Golden Eagle Coins was founded in 1974 by Robert W. Mangels and Richard J. Stelfox. Bob and Rich began operations in 1964 by attending local coin shows and expanding on Bob's ever-growing coin ventures. In 1974, they opened the doors to their first shop in Adelphi, MD. Over the years they have ventured into various areas of the collectible business, including currency, memorabilia, jewelry, and stamps. Their focus throughout the years, however, has always been on U.S. coins and bullion investing and trading.

As time went on, dealers around the country began to recognize their work ethic, knowledge of coin value, and practice of fair dealing. Golden Eagle Coins is in attendance at up to 42 national coin shows/conventions per year and is an annual attendee at every national ANA convention each year since 1973, making the company a well-connected coin dealer. Maryland coin collectors have always relied on Golden Eagle Coins for their numismatic needs.

As the company grew in size, Golden Eagle Coins began to cater to other companies’ want lists and became a main supplier of various numismatic materials. In the late 90's, management made the decision to offer its services to the average collector via the Internet and mail order, as was the trend with other coin dealers. MD collectors, as well as collectors around the world, could now view Golden Eagle Coins’ large inventory, take advantage of huge savings, and purchase a wide range of numismatic products, including gold and silver bullion products. For silver and gold bars, platinum products, palladium products, proofs, mint sets, and other supplies, Golden Eagle Coins is one of the most trusted names in the business.

Robert Jr has been involved in the coin business since birth. With exceptional knowledge of all US Coins and Bullion products, Bob is able to keep up daily with constantly moving markets in the numismatic field. Dealing mostly in Dealer to Dealer business, Bob has become a reliable source for many dealers in fairly handling large purchases and estate acquisitions. Bobs field of specialty includes Gold & Silver Bullion trading, Lincoln Cents, US Early Type Coins, Modern Commemoratives and US Proof & Mint Sets.

Dan has been with Golden Eagle since its beginning. At first he would assist his brother Rich, part time while they attended shows and conventions. Dan joined the company full time in 1994. His range of duties consists of handling the shipping department, customer concerns and general order fulfillment.

Pat has handled the ever-growing task of managing the company's financial concerns since its inception in 1974. Her husband Bob Sr is a well known figure in the numismatic world and she has attended nearly every coin show to date. Her vibrant personality and positivity has kept the company focused and its public image outstanding.

Clint has worked part time with his father Rich since childhood. As the company ventured into eCommerce in late 2001, Clint joined Golden Eagle full time. Clint is responsible for all aspects of web development and advertising for Golden Eagle and is a valuable resource for both his numismatic knowledge and his internet expertise.

Jim has been in the numismatic field for over 30 years. Jim joined Golden Eagle in the late 1990's to run the companies eBay business and help with coin related inquiries. Jim handles all things related to technology in the company and his experience in the industry is a tremendous asset.

Faythe's sweet nature and people skills have assisted many customers with general inquiries. She joined the company in 2002 and has become the only staff member some customers will ask for.

Chris Jones joined the company in late 2006. He has quickly picked up on the workings of the numismatic field and has a working knowledge of coins. His duties include order fulfillment and shipping as well as customer service.
